Halloween has come and gone, the wind is getting crisp, the mornings have the car windows frosted. As we move closer towards Christmas, we must take a moment everyday until then to be grateful; to give thanks for what you are blessed with, and to give to others to show our gratitude.
I find it extremely ironic that immediately after the day we celebrate how grateful we are for everything, that we as a society magically seem to forget how grateful we are for what we have, when we rush out before dawn, trampling and running over our fellow man to purchase the “next new thing” and start to rack up the debt so we can “keep up with The Jones”.
The month of November is known for gratitude, for spending quality time with family & loved ones. I know when my dad spent quality time with me, and his attention was on me and my brothers and not elsewhere such as work, etc. Our relationships have grown immensely because of that quality time spent together. When I think of my favorite times with my father, I don’t think about christmas presents, or things he bought us, nothing that had any monetary value. I remember the great memories we had when he went hiking with us, when he took us camping, when we went hunting together. etc. Case and point, when we spent quality time together.
How many of you can honestly say you give enough quality time to your family, to your wife, to your kids?
How many of you want to spend more quality time with your family, your wife, and your kids?
How big of a gap is that from where you are to where you want to be?
Being a lifestyle entrepreneur, you get to mix business with pleasure, meaning that I have incorporated my way of life with how I provide a living for my growing family. I knew, as I grew up, that I would find a way to incorporate what I love doing in this life, and to involve the people I love and care about, and be extremely wealthy, monetary and relationship wise!
Every year, I watch as the crowds go out and buy their relationships and friendships with cash and credit. But if the focus in our lives was to enrich and nourish the value in others’ instead of buying “valuables” for others, there would be a lot more happy people in the world. So take a moment each day to be grateful, and spend some quality time with someone you love each day. Make a goal each day to spend quality time with someone new to create lasting memories.
I challenge each and everyone of you, if you have taken the time to read this post, to take 15-20 and dedicate to someone you care about in your life, and spend some quality time with them. Focused on them, truly giving them 100% of you during that time. Whether you go to lunch with your girlfriend, or skype with your friend across the world, spend quality time enriching those around you this month, and you will be surprised at what kind of happiness you will achieve. Trust me, it’s a rush I’ve never been able to turn down. Ghandi said it best, “Be The Change You Want To See In The World.” I am. Are you?
